Controversial remarks made by Nigerian artist Odumodublvck concerning his recent single, “MC Oluomo,” have sparked a wave of criticism from Nigerians on social media. The artist’s explanation that the song has no connection to the notorious Lagos state figure, MC Oluomo, failed to appease his critics.
During his debut album, “Eziokwu” listening party in Abuja on October 5th, Odumodublvck addressed the ongoing backlash, asserting that the song should not be interpreted as endorsing or relating to MC Oluomo, a prominent figure in Lagos politics. He compared this interpretation to assuming his track “Declan Rice” being about the Arsenal footballer, emphasizing that both assumptions are incorrect.
Additionally, Odumodublvck revealed his political stance during the elections, supporting Peter Obi, a candidate distinct from MC Oluomo’s All Progressives Congress (APC) allegiance to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the winning presidential candidate.
Odumodublvck pointed out that if Peter Obi, the Labor Party’s presidential candidate, had a loyal supporter like MC Oluomo, they might have had a better chance in the elections.
However, this explanation failed to resonate with many Nigerians who criticized Odumodublvck for what they perceived as strained attempts to clarify his intentions. Some accused him of damaging his own reputation, while others highlighted perceived contradictions in his statements.
