Mr Philip Ozonandi, the new Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ore Unit Command in Ondo State, has warned motorists against violation of traffic rules on the Benin-Ore expressway.
The new FRSC boss gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ore.
Ozonandi said the command would apply the law and prosecute erring motorists, be they commercial or private.
He listed such offences to include reckless driving, speeding, overloading, driving without safety belt, invalid vehicle particulars, drivers’ licence violation, use of expired tyres, fire extinguishers and taking calls while driving.
“We will not condone any violation of traffic rules, especially by motorists on the Benin-Ore expressway.
“Motorists are advised in their own interest to ensure that they obey all traffic rules or they will face the wrath of the law,’’ Ozonandi said.
NAN reports that Ozonandi became the new Unit Commander following the transfer of the former Commander, Mr Umoru Abdullahi. (NAN)
