Embattled Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said God would not forgive him if he risked the lives of residents of the state in the name of politics.
He added that he has never been desperate for a second term but the people of the state would return him to the Government House due to his numerous achievements in his first term.
The governor is currently enmeshed in a superiority battled with his erstwhile godfather and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Backed by the National Working Committee (NWC), Oshiomhole has insisted on direct primary option to select the party’s candidate for governorship in the state, in what is believed to be aimed at muscling Obaseki out of the race.
However, the governor has promised to ensure that the people of the state are not put in harm’s way despite the political turmoil.
He spoke on a Channels Television programme “Sunday Politics”.

“God will never forgive me if I risk the lives of my people because of politics.
“We should not risk the lives of the people because of politics.
“The crisis in the APC is not threatening my chances if Edo people are allowed to express themselves, vote for their choice candidate,” Obaseki stated.
