Obasanjo Thinks Nigerians Are Dimwits – Group

Move on Nigeria, a socio-political group has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a bad actor who thinks Nigerians are dimwits.

Mr Clem Aguiyi, the national coordinator of the group said this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.

Aguiyi said “We find the false claims and allegations reportedly made against President Jonathan by Chief Obasanjo on Saturday, in Abeokuta, very repugnant.

‘‘It is unfortunate that Chief Obasanjo has made up his mind to mislead the nation with unfounded lies. While we hope Nigeria survives his sinister interventions, we seize this opportunity to urge him to tell the truth for once before he dies.

“It is most regrettable indeed that a man like Chief Obasanjo, who should know better, chooses to repeatedly, wantonly and maliciously lie against a sitting president of his country for the primary purpose of achieving self-promotion.

‘‘It is also important to note that the man Obasanjo as president will not stomach the rubbish he is giving to President Jonathan.

“It is obvious from Chief Obasanjo’s vituperations against President Jonathan who is doing his best to positively transform Nigeria for the benefit of all of its people that Obasanjo’s singular reason is for selfish self-promotion, hence he has willfully chosen to close his eyes to the good works and noble intentions of the Jonathan-led administration.

‘‘For reasons best known to him, Chief Obasanjo has set his mind on a regime change by fair or foul means, hence he has continued to incite the citizens and the military against the government.

“Otherwise, it would be completely senseless and out of place for Chief Obasanjo to accuse President Jonathan of plotting to win the rescheduled presidential elections by ‘hook or crook’ and planning to plunge the nation into crisis if he loses the election when obviously he (Jonathan) is committed to free, fair and credible election and had proven his commitment to one man one vote in all elections conducted under his watch.”

The group accused the former president of plotting to thwart the elections, the group said “For the record, President Jonathan has no such intention and will continue to give the greatest possible support to INEC and other relevant federal agencies to ensure that the rescheduled elections are successfully conducted.

“Obasanjo’s plot with others within and outside the country to thwart the general elections and foist an unconstitutional Interim National Government, which he hopes to head is an open secret, but by the Grace of God Almighty, his odious plan to return to power through the backdoor will fail woefully.”

  • OBJ’s intention to foist an interim government has scuttled. The present administration has not given him the platform to do so and that surely is where his frustration stems up from. Luckily we have a leader that has put the interest of Nigerians above political influences. This further highlights why Jonathan deserves a second term. #GEJ4Naija
