Obasanjo speaks on ‘2023 agenda’ after meeting Abdulsalami, IBB

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he would soon unveil his agenda for the 2023 election.

Obasanjo made the comment shortly after visiting former Heads of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar and Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, Niger State on Sunday.

Abdulsalami, 80, is said to be indisposed.

Obasanjo said he did not have a favourite candidate for the 2023 presidential election as being speculated in some sections of the media.

“I came to see my brother who has been a little indisposed. When he was in London, I wanted to visit him but the day I arrived in London was the day he left. So that is why I decided to come and see him at home.

“He is very special and I am still strong to visit those who are special to me,” he said.

Obasanjo was said to have arrived at Abdulsalami’s Uphill residence at 12:30 pm and greeted members of the family before proceeding into a closed-door meeting with the former Head of State.

The meeting reportedly lasted 30 minutes.

After leaving Abdulsalami’s home, Obasanjo was said to have proceeded to Babangida’s home, where he also held a closed-door meeting.

The former president was said to have left Babangida’s home around 2:30pm for the Minna airport where he got on a flight to Abuja.

Obasanjo has in the last couple of days met with some of the leading 2023 presidential candidates.

He first hosted presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In the past week, he was in a meeting with the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, Nyesom Wike, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu and Seyi Makinde in London, United Kingdom.
