The controversy surrounding the marriage of Olujonwo, one of the son’s of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to Tope, a daughter of billionaire businessman, Adebutu Kessington aka Baba Ijebu, has continued to cause ripples between the two families.
Ms. Tope Martins, the groom’s mother, had gone to the police to lodge a missing person’s report after the son abandoned his matrimonial home in November 2017.
Olujonwo reportedly abandoned his home following alleged assault and harassment from his wife.
He purportedly released a statement on Thursday where he called his mother an attention seeker for saying he was missing.
However, the mother denied that her son wrote the statement, saying former President Obasanjo wrote the statement as one of his schemes to keep the son in the unworkable marriage in order to save face.
Asked if she had spoken to her ex-husband about the situation, Ms Martins said: What do I want to discuss with this man (Obasanjo)? He sees himself as alpha and omega ; you can ’t talk to him . All he wants is for the young man to obey him , by staying in the marriage. If not, why would a man be calling people not to give him (Olujonwo) financial or business assistance?
She added, He (Obasanjo) said he would ensure that my son suffers if he does not stay in the marriage.
