The minister of communication, Adebayo Shittu, has stated that he is willing to undergo the compulsory NYSC program to qualify as an aspirant for governorship.
The minister had a sitdown with popular Ibadan-based broadcast journalist, Edmund Obilo and there he said that he would be willing to do the compulsory one-year program.
Shittu had hoped to be deemed acceptable to run for office under the banner of the APC, however, he was disqualified along with Aisha Alhassan.
Before the disqualification, Shittu in his interview was asked if he would go through the NYSC program. He said: “Of course I will go; it will be a pleasant thing to go after I have been governor by the grace of God,”

“Whichever camp…it doesn’t matter, Daura is part of Nigeria,” he said, “I will serve in any place if it becomes necessary for me to go.”
Mr. Obilo then asked Shittu if he would be willing to serve even if he is disqualified from running for office
“If it becomes necessary I will,” he responded. “Court will have to decide whether serving in the house of assembly and being minister is not superior and does not replace service in the NYSC.”
According to Premium Times, the Communication minister had once said that he didn’t partake in NYSC because he was appointed into public service the moment he graduated from school.
