The Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, on Saturday said, the service had concluded plans to establish skill acquisition centres in six geopolitical zones of the country.
Kazaure disclosed this at a news conference after visiting Yobe batch A corps members who were camped in Jigawa.
He explained that the proposed plan would start with North East region and the centre would be situated in Gombe State.
According to him, NYSC wIll collaborate with Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry and Heritage bank to ensure the project is successful.
He added that the banks had agreed to fund the project.
The director-general said that the skill acquisition centres would be in geopolitical zones in the short run but in the near future, every state of the federation would have its centre.
He said that when completed, every centre would be headed by an officer not below Grade Level 17 in the service.
Meanwhile, Kazaure advised corps members to respect the culture of their host communities and not to indulge in anything that would tarnish the image of NYSC. (NAN)
