NYSC: 21 Prospective Corps Members Test Positive For Coronavirus In Taraba

2 Min Read

No fewer than 21 prospective corps members of the Batch ‘B’ stream (I) orientation course posted to Taraba State have tested positive for COVID-19.

The 21 cases were detected following the compulsory COVID-19 test carried out on all prospective corps members and visitors to the camp, a staff of the National Youth Service Corps in Taraba told Punch.

According to the source, those who tested positive are being attended to at an isolation centre in the camp located at Sibre, near Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

“We are not allowed to speak to the press on any issue. As far as COVID-19 is concerned, only the National Secretariat can comment.

“But in confidence, I can confirm to you that we have 21 positive cases of COVID-19 in our camp in Sibre, but there is no course for alarm.

“All the 21 cases are from prospective corps members who have not been admitted in the camp.

“From the gate where they tested positive, they were taken to the isolation centre in the camp where they are being treated. After some time, their sample will be taken again to test their status.

“From the information available to us in the camp, once they tested negative, they will be allowed to join the rest of the corps members for camp activities,” the source said.
