The equities market closed today on a positive note, as NSE ASI appreciated by 0.70% to close at 24,432.51basis points, compared with the 0.85% appreciation recorded previously. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) returns currently stands at -14.70%while market capitalisation also rose from N8.344 trillion to N8.403 trillion.
The market recorded 22 gainers today led by Nestle with a gain of N50.00 or 7.69 per cent to N700.00 followed by Tigerbrands with a gain of N0.06 or 5.00 per cent to close at N1.26 while Glaxosmith gained N1.14 or 5.00 per cent to close at N24.17 per share.
On the other hand, Port & Paint topped 16 stocks on the losers’ chart with N0.35 loss or 9.43 per cent to close at N3.36 followed by Diamond Bank that lost N0.11 or 6.63 per cent to close at N1.55 per share, and Vitafoam that lost N0.23 or 4.90 per cent to close at N4.46 per share.
Altogether, a total of 172,393,578 shares worth N925.393 million exchanged hands in 2,437 deals.
