NSE cautions stakeholders in construction sector against compromise

2 Min Read

Abuja branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has cautioned stakeholders in the construction sector against compromise to address incidences of building collapse in the FCT.

Dr Ezekiel Coker, the Chairman of Abuja branch of the NSE, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He blamed incidences of building collapse in the FCT on use of quacks and compromise on the part of professionals in the sector.

According to him, there are always financial gains in compromise but I don’t want any professional, especially in the building environment to compromise anything.

He said the resultant effects of compromise in building construction had always been building collapses, failures and deaths.

Coker advocated for synergy among the stakeholders, the engineers, architects, builders and the surveyors to address the problems of quackery in the sector.

He said the Abuja branch of NSE was already in contact with the stakeholders to ensure that the synergy was developed.

“I think is time for all the stakeholders to come together and agree on what should be done to eradicate the problem of quackery.

“When we do that, we will be able to close the gap against quackery that has come to hijack our profession for monetary gains,” he said. (NAN)
