NSE ASI, Market Cap Gain 0.56% As Green Streak Extends To 6 Days

The equities market closed on Monday on a positive note, as NSE ASI appreciated by 0.56% to close at 24,827.50 basis points, compared with the 0.10% appreciation recorded previously. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) returns currently stands at -13.32%.

The market recorded 20 gainers today led by Seplat with a gain of N9.2 to close at N261.31 followed by Dangote Cement with a gain of N5.49 to close at N151.99 while Vitafoam gained N0.4 to close at N4.69per share.

On the other hand, Nestle topped 25 stocks on the losers’ chart with N25 to close at N6.70 followed by International Breweries that lost N1 to close at N19.24 per share, and Conoil that lost N0.91 to close at N17.42 per share. Others are zenith bank and Guinness plc.

Zenith Bank led the top traded companies with 140,800,956 volume of trades valued at N1,637,924,093.84, followed by GT Bank which traded in 23,187,836 volume of trades valued at N385,860,787.53. others are Fidelity bank, UBA and Transcorp.

Altogether, a total of 283,521,117 shares worth N2, 923billion exchanged hands in 3,030 deals.

Meanwhile, Naira on Monday slumped further at the parallel market as the dollar remained scarce.

According to business reports, the naira lost N5 to exchange at N340 to the dollar, a depreciation of 1.5 per cent.

Over the weekend, the nation’s currency closed at N335 to the dollar.
