The Commandant of NSCDC, Enugu State Command, Mr. Everestus Obiyo, made the call in Enugu during a courtesy visit of Mr. Abdullahi Abdul, new

Commander of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Enugu state to his office.

According to Obiyo, most crimes are committed under the influence of hard drugs or substances.

He said that drug abuse and improper use of hard substances by unauthorized persons had contributed to the high crime wave in the country.

“Hard drugs in the hands of miscreants have no doubt fueled various violent crimes. There is a need for joint efforts toward checkmating the unwholesome

development in the entire country,’’ he said.

The commandant lauded efforts of NDLEA in combating drug abuse while pledging the continued support of the command to the agency towards winning

the drug war in the state and the entire country.

Responding, Abdul said that the visit was aimed at consolidating the existing synergy between NSCDC and NDLEA in the state.

He, however, called for the assistance of all security agencies in the state to enable NDLEA to succeed in its mandate.
