The only goal of the match was scored by Chinonso Eziekwe in the 46th minute of the match played at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Ogui, Enugu.

Rangers would have paid for their several misses but have their defensive trojan Tony Shimaga to thank for the last gasp relief in the 82nd minute.

With the victory Rangers climbed up to 8thpositions from 13th position with 31 points after 22 matches in the NPFL.

Speaking after the match, Rangers Assistant Coach Mbwas Mangut expressed dismay over the club several missed chances.

Mangut said that Rangers needed to avoid such against a big team as Rivers United in their next match to avoid punishment.

He noted that the win was a good one for the club considering where it would take them to in the log.

The coach said “things change fast in football as each game comes with its ways’’ and expressed confidence that the players could convert all their chances in their next match.

In his submission, Kastina United coach Henry Makinwa gave it to Rangers for their brave play after the interval.

Makinwa said that his team lost the match to loss of concentration and that he was not happy the way his team conceded the goal.

”We would have come out of the match with something positive if not that goal.

”Although we missed chances but Rangers could have regretted most because they missed chances more than we,” Makinwa said.

The coach said that he would have been the happiest person if that match had ended in a draw.

Speaking on officiating, the coach rated the officiating 100 per cent and said that the officials did excellently well.
