NPFL: 3SC beat defending champions Enyimba

2 Min Read

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on Sunday in Ibadan defeated reigning Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba International FC of Aba 1-0 in a 2015/2016 Match Day 22 fixture.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that 3SC scored their lone goal through Ajani Ibrahim in the 25th minute of the game played at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

NAN reports that Enyimba however wasted many goal scoring chances, among which was the one wasted by Nzube Anaezemba in the 31st minute of the game.

3SC’s coach Gbenga Ogunbote later told newsmen he was very happy with the match’s outcome, saying his team’s dream of escaping
relegation could be a reality.

“We will definitely pick vital points from our away games, because we know what is at stake.

“And, for us to survive relegation, we need to pick away points and continue to win at home,” he said.

On his part, coach Paul Aigbogun of Enyimba gave kudos to his players for living up to expectations in spite of the defeat.

“There is no problem with my boys having failed to win in the last four games.

“At least, these are the players who played nine games unbeaten in the ongoing season. But I believe we will soon get it right,” he said.

NAN reports that 3SC have continued with a good home winning run under Ogunbote in spite of the challenges facing the club.(NAN)
