Not My President: Nigerians React To Supreme Court Ruling Affirming Tinubu’s Presidency

Following the Supreme Court’s verdict, which upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election, Nigerians have taken to X platform to react.

The Herald recalls that Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), filed a court case seeking to overturn the judgment of the presidential election petition tribunal, which affirmed Tinubu’s election as president.

One of the issues raised by Obi is that Tinubu failed to secure 25 percent of the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Atiku Abubakar, on the other hand, challenged Tinubu’s eligibility to contest the election.

In the 35 grounds notice of appeal, the appellants submitted that the tribunal’s findings were marred by “grave errors and gross misrepresentations,” resulting in a miscarriage of justice.

In a separate application, Atiku appealed to submit fresh evidence obtained from Chicago State University (CSU) against Tinubu. He alleged that Tinubu’s academic records were riddled with discrepancies and forgeries.

The Herald reports that the apex court dismissed the appeals by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi, on Thursday.

Reacting to the verdict, some Nigerians have taken to X formerly called Twitter with tye tag, Still Not my president, The Herald captured some tweets, see below:
