The North East Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday endorsed Sen. Ali Sheriff as it’s sole candidate for the party’s national chairmanship position.
The endorsement was made at the North East zonal congress of the party.
A motion for the endorsement was moved by Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba and seconded by his Gombe state counterpart, Gov. Ibrahim Danbaba.
With the endorsement, Sheriff will be presented as the zone’s only candidate at the party’s upcoming national congress.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all other positions in the zone were filled by consensus.
The positions include: The North East Vice chairman, Mr Emmanuel Njiwah from Taraba, the Secretary, Alhaji Kabiru Wamba from Gombe, the Treasurer, Alhaji Baffa Haruna from Yobe state, among others.
Responding, the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Ali Sheriff, commended the congress for the trust and confidence reposed in him.
He said his ambition was to take PDP to greater heights.
He pledged to unite the party and carry its aggrieved members along. (NAN)
