A joint action by non-academic staff unions has grounded academic activities in some universities across the country.
Acting under the aegis of Joint Action Committee (JAC), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), declared a nationwide strike which has halted registration of new intakes being embarked upon by most of the universities, among other academic activities.
Most affected institutions include the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), University of Calabar (UniCal) and River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST).
The unions had accused the Federal Government of failing to keep promises made to them.
According to Vanguard, quoting officials in the schools, academic activities have been brought to a complete stop in UNN, Unical and RSUST.
