President Muhammadu Buhari has fired the first shot in the renewed fight against piracy. He charged the various security and law enforcement agencies to assist the government in protecting Nollywood and other entertainment arms from pirates and their machinations.
He gave the directive yesterday after a briefing from Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information.
He said, “Nollywood is making progress. We should work with them. Unless they are backed, they will be ruined by pirates who want to reap where they have not sowed. They have built an industry with their own sweat. It is therefore incumbent on us to give them the necessary support.”
