Nollywood Actress, Etinosa Talks on How Domestic Violence Pushed Her to Drugs

2 Min Read

Popular Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has recently opened up about the harrowing experiences she faced at the hands of her estranged husband, which led her to turn to illicit substances as a means of escape. In a candid conversation with renowned media personality Chude Jideonwo, Etinosa revealed that she got married at the tender age of 22 and became a victim of brutal domestic violence, to the point where her life was in jeopardy.

Speaking about her past, the talented actress expressed her deep fear of her ex-husband, who constantly asserted his dominance over her, rather than treating her as a friend or equal partner. Recounting her desperate attempts to find solace, she confessed, “It got to a point where I was on drugs. Whenever he was coming home, normally as a woman, you should be happy that your husband is coming home, but I would just be stoned and doped up, so that no matter what he says or does, I’m just looking at him. Just so that there would be peace.

Etinosa went on to reveal that despite her ceaseless prayers and fasting, her husband remained unchanged, which ultimately led her to make the difficult decision to leave the marriage. Reflecting on her naivety at the time, she admitted, “I was green, I no know anything. I was a mumu. I was 22 when I got married. My ex-husband told me that ‘I’m not your friend, I’m your lord.
