Mofe Duncan, a prominent Nollywood actor, has spoken out about the body shaming and blacklisting he experienced in the early days of his career due to his weight. In a recent Instagram post, Duncan shared his personal story in response to a troll who commented that he wasn’t handsome enough to be considered among the most handsome men in Nigeria due to his size.
Duncan revealed that he suffered a severe back injury while trying to lose weight to meet industry expectations and was even rejected by producers who deemed him “fat.” Although the experiences affected him in the past, he emphasized that they no longer bother him. Instead, he chose to speak out to support others who face similar body shaming and discrimination.
The actor wrote, “This post ain’t for me or about me, it’s for others like me who get body shamed or called ‘unpretty’ because they’re larger than their peers.”
