Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor is currently grappling with a challenging health condition encompassing kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke, according to a recent statement from his cousin, Tony Muonagor. The revelation was made in a heartfelt Facebook post on Sunday, shedding light on the actor’s health struggles during his three-week hospital admission.
In the detailed post, Tony Muonagor shared that Amaechi has been managing diabetes for several years, with the family shouldering the associated costs. The situation took a turn for the worse when the actor recently suffered a stroke, intensifying the severity of his health challenges.
The Facebook post included a photo taken two weeks ago during Tony’s visit to Amaechi at the Nnewi Teaching Hospital. Tony initially considered offering quiet assistance but decided to make a public post to provide clarity and update well-wishers, fans, and the online community about the actor’s condition.
“Amaechi is currently down with kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. He had been managing his diabetes over the years and living his life. He is presently undergoing weekly dialysis and other treatments at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi,” Tony disclosed in the post.
While emphasizing that Amaechi is his first cousin, Tony dispelled misinformation circulating online and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans, friends, and well-wishers. He acknowledged the significant contributions made towards Amaechi’s hospital bills and highlighted the need for sustained funding to facilitate the actor’s full treatments and recovery.
“As of today, there’s some improvement. His blood sugar is under control, but he is still on admission, weekly dialysis, physiotherapy, and other treatments. His full treatments and recovery require sustained funding or donations,” Tony Muonagor added.
