A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state, Alhaji Abdullahi Adiya, has said nobody can remove Senate President Bukola Saraki except God, adding that he was duly elected by his colleagues, warning that the plot being orchestrated by some senators will end up in vain.
Speaking in Sokoto yesterday, Adiya underscored the need for Senators loyal to Senator Ahmad Lawan to tow the path of dialogue and reconciliation to enable peace reign in the Senate.
Adiya maintained that Saraki’s emergence as the Senate President was destined by God and as such those fighting him would end up in vain.
“Nobody can remove him except God because he was duly elected by his colleagues and not imposed on them”, he said.
He pointed out that Saraki contributed to the progress of the party and was instrumental to APC’s victory in the 2015 presidential elections.
Adiya posited that Saraki did not betray the APC contrary to insinuations in some quarters but was duly elected by his colleagues to become the Senate President.
He described the smear campaign against Saraki as the antics of political enemies, who were bent on tarnishing his image for political gains.
“There is no evidence that Saraki is a corrupt leader. It was just a smear campaign by detractors to tarnish his image. He has been providing good leadership to the Senate and Nigerians are happy with the purposeful leadership. Therefore, we urged him not to be distracted by the antics of political enemies,” Adiya stated.
