A member of the All Progressives Congress Board of Trustees, Ismael Ahmed has disagreed with claims by some Nigerians that the president was deliberately ignoring the South East region in appointments to offices in his administration.
“It is impossible for anyone to ignore any region in Nigeria. There are a lot of appointments to be made,” the BOT member stated on a Channels Television programme today.
It will be recalled that as at the end of August, President Buhari had reportedly made 31 appointments, out of which 24 were from the North and 7 from the South.
Ahmed also reiterated the president’s commitment to ending corruption in Nigeria, saying that the president’s body language was a step in the right direction.
He equally allayed the fears of young people and women in Nigeria who believe that the 72-year-old Buhari may marginalise them in the scheme of things, stating that the president would always grant them a listening hear.
Ahmed expressed hopes of a better future for the country now that Buhari is president, declaring that “Most of the problems in Nigeria are basically artificial problems, and that of leadership and lack of will and the deep-seated patriotism that is needed to push the country forward.”
