Senators have yesterday quashed the speculation that the National Assembly may be looking to replace the Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, adding that there was absolutely no need for such a plot.
In a statement signed by six of the Senators yesterday, the senators revealed led that the Senate President has and continues to have the support of the majority in the Senate as they are sure of the stands of their colleagues in support of the Senate President.
The released statement was signed by committee Chairmen including; Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, APC, Kwara South; Committee on Niger Delta, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, PDP, Delta North; Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, APC, Niger North; Committee on Navy, Senator Isa Hamma Misau, APC, Bauchi Central; Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, PDP, Imo East and Committee on Health( Secondary), Senator Lanre Tejuoso, APC, Ogun Central.
The Chairmen of the committees maintained opposition to a news story which stated that the Senate is set to oust the sitting Senate President.
They added that the issuance of the statement was warranted in order to quash any form of rumour as concerning the plan of the senators to replace Dr. Saraki.
They added that several calls had been made to them to confirm the veracity of the claim which they are confirming to be false and nothing but a propaganda.
