No Bribe received, Mompha still in custody- EFCC

2 Min Read

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified speculations surrounding rumours of Mompha, the alleged internet fraudster bribing his  way out of custody.

Few weeks ago, The Herald reported the arrest of popular Instagram slay King,  Ismaila Mustapha better known as Mompha by InterPol. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in money laundering and internet fraud activities

Following his arrest, his Instagram account was also deactivated.

However,  the re-activation of his Instagram account last week, has generated a lot of questions with the rumour mill brewing with stories of how the Instagram baby boy bribed his way out of custody

Nigerians have accused operatives of the anti-graft agency of accepting bribe and therefore acquitting him of all his crimes.

The EFCC denied these allegations after an Internet user who brought it to their attention,  also asked for an update on Mompha.

Where are we on Mompha’s case?

Why did @officialEFCC delete all posts relating to Mompha’s arrest. A random online post reveals that he’s settling (bribing) his way out. Clear the air in this pls @officialEFCC
God bless Naija

EFCC replied him saying,

This information about Mompha “bribing” his way out is false and MUST be disregarded.

Ismaila Mustapha is still being remanded on court orders and will soon be arraigned.
