Mohammed Kawu Baru, son of the Group Managing Director, GMD, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru has been reported dead.
The demise of the NNPC boss’ son comes after the Sharjah Police investigation revealed that the 19-year-old plunged to his death during a group climb in the rocky, mountainous terrain in Khor Fakkan, UAE.
The deceased, an Architecture student at American University, Sharjah was reported to have gone hiking on Thursday, May 18 with friends when the tragedy struck.
Mohammed Kawu Baru was reported to have fell to his death from the upper reaches of the mountain range.
Police report further revealed that early medical examination indicated that the Architecture student died from severe injuries.
Reports further noted that an emergency call revealing that a hiker had fallen from the rocky area had been responded to by the Emergency authorities at about 10:50am on Thursday. The victim was however airlifted from the area to the Khor Fakkan hospital by a Sharjah Police Air Wing team where the NNPC boss’ son was pronounced dead.
He was reported to have suffered severe injuries as a result of the fall.
