The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has called for more private sector participation in healthcare delivery describing it as the way forward.
While addressing a scientific conference of the association in Abuja, NMA president Dr. Kayode Obembe said: “The earlier we address this issue, the better. We cannot concentrate all our services and pay for everything within the public sector.
“It is driven by determination to achieve excellence. If there’s going to be a collaboration between public and private sectors, the better.”
Dr. Fatima Mairami, chair of NMA’s Abuja chapter also added that the government should use private sector participation to encourage world class medical service in Nigeria.
