Nissan Motors corporation has said that the first set of Sports Utility Vehicles to be made in Nigeria will be rolled out this year.
Chief Executive Officer of Nissan Motors, Carlos Ghosn made this known to President Jonathan at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Ghosn said the vehicles would be asssembled at the old Volks Wagen plant in Lagos. He also stated that the company could produce up to 3 million units of cars annually in the country.
He said Nissan would also set up its own plant in the country and that thousands of jobs for Nigerians would be created.
The President, in his remarks, said he would ensure the Government’s full support of the National Automotive Policy.
