Nine policemen attached to the Inspector-General of Police Special Anti‑Vandalism unit are being held hostage by vandals after the police attempted to disrupt their activities at the Arepo pipeline in Ogun state.
Two members of the unit were killed whilst two were said to be kidnapped initially. However police sources now report that the actual number of police kidnapped is actually nine.
Ogun Police Command spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi did not confirm the exact number to journalists.
He said: “A lot of our men have been trapped in the incident, but I cannot confirm the figure to you. I am not the one that led the team. So, I cannot tell you if they are nine or not.”
