Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has urged Nigerians to avoid outdoor activities in December because there will be stormy rains around Southern, Central and the Middle belt zones of the country.
NIMET warned that the stormy weather will cause a lot of damage to the environment and public infrastructure.
In a statement signed by the agency’s Head of Corporate and Public Affairs, Ms. Eva Azinge, in Abuja, NIMET said “The general public is advised to avoid outdoor activities during these stormy weather as the strong winds may in some occasions uproot trees, damage electric poles and affect building rooftops.”
NIMET provides weather, climatic and flooding forecasts in Nigeria.
