Nigeria’s COVID-19 fatalities are on the rise incessantly as a total of 17 deaths were recorded within 24hrs on Saturday.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, announced this in its daily update on COVID-19 on its official handle on Twitter on Saturday, May 2.
The agency disclosed further that the total fatality in Nigeria is now 85 as it also confirmed 220 new cases, bringing the total number of infection to 2,388.

In a tweet on its official Twitter handle, NCDC wrote;
“220 new cases of #COVID19; 62-Lagos 52-FCT 31-Kaduna 13-Sokoto 10-Kebbi 9-Yobe 6-Borno 5-Edo 5-Bauchi 4-Gombe 4-Enugu 4-Oyo 3-Zamfara 2-Nasarawa 2-Osun 2-Ebonyi 2-Kwara 2-Kano 2-Plateau 2388 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria Discharged: 385 Deaths: 85″
Meanwhile, Opelika Obaze, a former diplomat and former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, had expressed worry over the rapid increase of coronavirus pandemic in Kano State, stating that Kano May become the epicenter of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed that the state has a total record of 311 coronavirus Cases, with 92 new cases on Friday, May 1, 2020.
The Kano State Ministry of Health confirmed the new tally released by NCDC for the state in a tweet.
“As at 11:25 pm 1st May 2020, 92 new cases of COVID-19 cases confirmed. Total confirmed cases in Kano State are now 311.
“3 additional COVID-19 deaths were recorded. Total COVID-19 deaths are now 8,” the tweet read.
