2 Min Read

Nigeria’s film industry has achieved a historic milestone, surpassing ₦7 billion in ticket sales with over 1.7 million admissions from January to September 2024. This remarkable feat was announced by The Nile Group, a leading player in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

According to The Nile Group, the top-grossing films of the year include “Ajosepo,” “Lakatabu,” “Beast of Two Worlds,” “Queen Lateefah,” “Farmer’s Bride,” “HellBoy & Hounds of War,” and “A Tribe Called Judah.” These films have contributed significantly to the industry’s impressive revenue.

The Nile Group’s statement revealed that “A Tribe Called Judah” alone has raked in over ₦610 million this year. The group also highlighted the success of “HellBoy & Hounds of War,” which has achieved remarkable success as a Hollywood-Nigerian collaboration.

Looking ahead, The Nile Group anticipates exceeding ₦10 billion in sales by the end of the year, driven by a robust pipeline of highly anticipated blockbusters. Some of the upcoming films include “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3” in October, “Basketmouth’s A Ghetto Love Story” in November, and “Funke Akindele’s Everybody Loves Jenifa,” “AY Makun’s The Waiter,” and “Mercy Aigbe’s Thin Line” in December.

This achievement underscores the growth and potential of Nigeria’s film industry, which continues to make significant strides in entertainment and culture.
