Nigerians have taken to social media to express solidarity with the national protest and prayer walk called by The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye led the protests marked in parishes of the church across the country.
The church said it took the decision to embark on the prayer walk following “gruesome killings of innocent people in the country”.
RCCG said the aim of the walk was to pray for “the government to develop capacity to overcome the criminals troubling the nation.”
“The Christian Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body for all Christians and Christian organizations in Nigeria, has made a clarion call for prayers and advocacy to all Christians in Nigeria in response to the inhumane acts against Christians in the country.
“The General Overseer has therefore directed that all members of RCCG should participate in this prayer and advocacy with details as stated here under:
“Since RCCG is currently on a fasting and praying programme, the prayer focus within this period should be against the gruesome killings of innocent people in the country and prayer for the government to develop the capacity to overcome the criminals troubling the nation,” Assistant General Overseer (Admin and Personnel) of the church, Pastor J.F Odesola said in a January 29 circular.

I just received these pictures from one of RCCG churches. I was told this very parish lost a member to Herdmen attack recently.
I admire the courage of RCCG to speak up, despite the fact that the VP is a Pastor with RCCG. https://t.co/DeT1oGlzQ8 pic.twitter.com/wq7U8go8zu

I saw a sizable bunch of people at Lekki Phase 1 gate protesting. Then I drove into the Estate and saw another group of protesters. Apparently, it’s RCCG members. We are finally getting there. Waiting to see if DSS will clamp down on a whole church & it’s leaders. pic.twitter.com/UgNzCwmiZQ

RCCG Nationwide are protesting against the ongoing genocide and insecurity in the country with Pastor Adeboye not left out of it. This is commendable, let's hope many others will emulate this, enough is enough.

RCCG should have partnered with Living Faith, Catholic Church, Anglican Church and other mega churches in Nigeria 🇳🇬. They should all have joined this nationwide protests against the senseless killings/massacre in Nigeria which the Federal Government has been unable to tackle.
