Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who is the Chief Returning Officer for the Presidential Election, announced that Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 15,191,847 votes to beat his closest challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 11,262,978 votes.
The commission tweeted:
That Muhammadu Buhari of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected. #NigeriaDecides2019Result pic.twitter.com/oz89PAz1QM

If APC want to win in 2023, they had better start working very hard now. They have their work cut out. Buhari’s effect on the next election won’t start from his usual~ 6 million votes headstart. Buhari aside, party for party without Buhari on one side, PDP would have won this one

Buhari wins re-election. I hope this is the end of PDP and most of those corrupt faces that built a Nigeria designed for sharing of oil revenues. The beauty of this win is that a set of politicians will be starved of income for 4 years, and hopefully that makes them irrelevant.

Those who expect to come here and see us in mourning do not understand the stuff we are made of – unmoved, unshaken, unbroken.
Buhari is not god and some of us will never worship him.
Nigeria belongs to all of us and we will stake our claim on this nation, even unto the death.

East, West, North and South all followed their usual voting pattern. Nothing new. Strategy wins elections in Nigeria not social media noise. Get your PVC (if you haven't) and vote in 2023. Congratulations to President Buhari. #NigeriaHasDecided #PMB2ndTerm

Congrats President-Elect @MBuhari. It is indeed a convincing win, but the task ahead is still a tough one. Nig needs more from u & we hope you will continue to deliver. Well done Wazirin Duk Duniya @atiku for putting up a good fight. No candidate in PDP would have done what u did pic.twitter.com/MvyTDUPMo6
