Nigerians react to claims rats damaged Buhari’s office

Nigerians on social media have taken to their pages to react to the reason given by the presidency to justify the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to work from home.

Recall that the Nigerian President returned to the country on Saturday and wrote to the National Assembly to resume office on Monday, however, it was revealed that Muhammadu Buhari will work from home in the interim because there were some renovations ongoing in his office.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, had said that while Buhari was away for over 100 days, rodents had infiltrated his office and destroyed several furniture and air conditioning fittings in the president’s official Abuja office.

He said: “These are also general works and it is not uncommon for Nigerian presidents to also work from the presidential villa. He has used the residential office for many years,” said Shehu.

“What is important is that the job gets done. Whether he does it from his bedroom or his sitting room or his anteroom — it does not matter. Let the job be done. And the job will be done.”

Shehu who didn’t speak much on the nature of rodents accused of the damage added: “I do not have that level of detail.”
