1 Min Read

Nigerians on Friday paid tribute to Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh,  who died  on 19th of August, 2014, after courageously treating the first Ebola case  in Nigeria.

Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-American  lawyer had entered the country on July 20th, 2014, despite being diagnosed with the Ebola Virus. He was taken to First Consultant Medical Center, Obalende, Lagos after he collasped at the Muritala Muhammed Airport and was   quarantined under the care of Dr. Adadevoh.

Sawyer had insisted he wanted to leave the hospital but was stopped by the resilient doctor, inspite of pressure from the Liberian Government.

Her heroic deed and decision has been regarded by many as what saved the country from experiencing a wide outbreak of the deadly virus.

Dr. Stella Adadevoh earned a MBBS in the University of Lagos  and a degree in Endocrinology in the University of London. She was also the great-granddaughter of one of the most celebrated founders of modern Nigeria, Herbert Macaulay.

See what Nigerians have to say about her:
