Nigerians on social media have speculated that organised labour including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have allegedly taken bribes to shelve their planned protest and industrial action against the recent increases in petrol and electricity prices.
Organised labour had said last week that they would embark on protests across the country alongside civil society organisations to express their displeasure about the recent increases as well as the economic situation in the country.

On the appointed day while civil society organisations turned up for the protests, organised labour failed to show up, prompting human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju to tweet,
“Dear Nigerians,
This is to inform you that we have finished consulting critical stakeholders. Only the Labour Unions are wasting time. We have tried. Even Femi Falana SAN is also on their case. We are all waiting for NLC & TUC.”

This attracted comments from Nigerians on social media who accused organised labour of always failing Nigerians when it matters most.
Check out the reactions.
NLC is obviously eating deep from the pocket of this government. You may say this my opinion is fallacious but from their body language you can understand. They even went to the extent of stopping a planned protest in Rivers state. 🤷♂️

NLC & TUC is no more a pressure group, its just another arm of the executive

NLC & TUC are direct beneficiaries of this government, don't expect anything good from them.
