President-elect Bola Tinubu has said that Nigerians gave him the “greatest birthday gift” by electing him in the February 25 presidential poll.
He also described his election as the “honour of a lifetime” and a “rare privilege” that would not be squandered when he is inaugurated as President on May 29.
Tinubu said this in a special message he released to mark his 71st birthday today, March 29.
“With such a privilege already granted to me, I will not go so far as to suggest I am due any birthday presents this year.

“I have already been given the greatest gift. A chance to lead and fulfil destiny. An opportunity to champion your aspirations and to bring about the Nigeria of your dreams,” he said.
Tinubu, whose campaign team said is resting abroad, earlier directed that special prayers and thanksgiving service be held on today to mark his 71st birthday instead of the annual birthday colloquium.
In his birthday message, the president-elect thanked all his well-wishers for their goodwill toward him, saying he received their kind words with great pleasure.
He also thanked God for life and the opportunities he has received.
