Super Eagles former captain and Head Coach, Christian Chukwu is presently down with an undisclosed but serious illness.
Benson Ejindu, patron of former Enugu Rangers players association, brought Chukwu’s illness to the fore in an appeal he made to source for funds for his treatment abroad.
He said that the ex-Enugu Rangers star needed at least $50,000 for treatment abroad.
“Christian “Chairman” Chukwu, who captained the famous Enugu Rangers International FC and the Nigeria national team in the 1970s and early 1980s, needs a different type of support – your financial support. Your support, no matter how small, will offset the cost of surgeries and treatments to restore his debilitating health.
“I am asking you to join me, this time around, in raising funds for Chairman Chukwu, who is currently in Nigeria receiving treatments for various ailments. Your financial support will help fly him to the United States for better treatment.

“We are hoping to raise about $50,000 to cover Christian Chukwu’s round trip flight from Nigeria and all the medical expenses. Leftover funds will help set up a health and welfare account for all Ex Rangers Players,” Ejindu said.
However, many Nigerians have taken to Twitter to pray for Chukwu’s quick recovery.

One thing these politicians and people with power and influence don't know is we are all victims of bad government policies. Imagine someone like Christian Chukwu needing 50k dollars for medical treatment.

Funny how the Government have no Health & other plans for our retired athletes & Veterans that has done us proud as a country. Should the likes of Christian Chukwu, Baba Suwe, Agbako & more be crying and dying in pains before something is done? Public donation is an insult biko.

Christian Chukwu, former captain and coach of the Super Eagles. Sick & begging for help.
If Nigeria treats him this way, imagine how it will treat me. They will be like “Dr. Damages, enfant terrible, renegade with an over exaggerated sense of importance… you are still alive?” pic.twitter.com/bTgh6UGw87

This news about Christian Chukwu is worrisome. I can understand unprivileged Nigerians seeking to crowdfund health care, but Christian Chukwu – Christian Chukwu too?!?
