A group of Nigerians, particularly an anti-outsiders gang on Twitter Music, have criticized Burna Boy for allegedly sampling an old, unidentified song for his track “Common Person” off his Love, Damini album. The album, which Burna Boy released in June/July last year, was meant to be an introspective project that showcased his vulnerability.
Apparently, Burna sampled COMMON PERSON from this 😹😂😂

However, recent videos of up-and-coming artists performing a cover of “Common Person” have led to the revelation that the track was not actually sampled from someone else’s music. Rather, it was a sample streak for the unidentified song in question.
I know you’re dull but at least you should be smart enough to know this is a cover to Burna Common person https://t.co/K1rX5IPcQD

The individual who initially spread the news of Burna Boy’s alleged musical theft has since retracted his statement, stating that given the artist’s history with sampling, it wouldn’t be surprising if he had indeed sampled someone else’s work.
So the common person supposed sample was a cover, it looked so convincing if we put Burna history with Sampling into consideration pic.twitter.com/bkitUsEUAg

It seems that the accusations against Burna Boy are unfounded, and that he did not in fact sample someone else’s music for “Common Person.”
