A Nigerian Woman, Pearlena Igbokwe, was appointed the new president of Universal Television this June.
She replaced ex-president Bela Bajaria.
Igbokwe had before her new role been a sensational servant to the company, working as the Executive Vice President, Drama Development for NBC Entertainment and before that, working as Executive Vice President, Drama Programming for NBC Entertainment.
Igbokwe was in Showtime before NBC and while there oversaw the running of successful series Dexter.
She was also part of the people to create Showtime’s Masters of Sex starring Michael Sheen.
She was with Showtime for seven years.
Igbokwe was born in Nigeria and moved to the United States at age 6. She went on to have a stellar academic career where she graduated from Yale University, and has an MBA from Columbia University’s business school.
