The first batch of Nigerian troops, numbering about eighty soldiers have arrived in Mali today.
The soldiers arrived Bamako on board the Lockheed C130 military transport plane that departed Kaduna earlier today.
The Nigerian contingent is to join the international force being mobilized to bring peace and stability to the country as it battles against Islamist extremists.
Nigeria is expected to deploy a total of 1200 soldiers to the country, and today’s batch is the first phase of the deployment.
