Nigerian football striker, Victor Osimhen has tested positive for the novel coronavirus again.

It would be recalled that the Napoli striker had tested positive for the virus after a trip at the beginning of the year.

Despite taking the necessary treatments, Victor Osimhen tested positive a second time after undergoing a new Covid-19 test on Monday, January 12, 2021.

The Napoli FC confirmed this in a tweet via their official Twitter page while adding that the test will be repeated at the end of the week.

They wrote: “The molecular nasopharyngeal swab carried out this morning to the footballer Victor Osimhen, resulted in a positive result in Covid-19,”

The first test was confirmed after a video of Osimhen dancing and spraying money at a party in Lagos went viral with complete disregard to COVID-19 protocols.

Meanwhile, A further 36 positive Covid-19 tests were reported by the 20 English Premier League clubs between Jan. 4 and Sunday.

A total of 27 of the tests came between January 4 and Thursday, with 10 more coming between Friday and Sunday, the Premier League said in a statement.

The 36 positive tests represent a slight reduction on the record number of 40 tests in the previous week.

A total of 2,593 tests were conducted across the 20 clubs.
