Nigerian singer Charly Boy has shared his complicated relationship with his father, former Supreme Court Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.
In an interview on the With Chude podcast, Charly Boy revealed that his struggles with authority began at home, citing strict household rules and frequent punishments from his father.
“My thing with the status quo started from the house… I was sick and tired of [the rules],” he said.
Charly Boy admitted that he and his father didn’t understand each other for many years, with his father thinking him to be “the kid from hell.”
The singer shared that his father’s strong religious background shaped his early life, initially leading him toward becoming a reverend father, which he eventually realized wasn’t his path.
Charly Boy previously spoke about disowning his parents due to feeling misunderstood.
