Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayra Starr recently spoke with American singer Coco Jones in an interview with Rolling Stone. When asked if she would date someone in the music industry, Ayra Starr expressed her preference for someone outside of the industry.
“I’m so happy I wasn’t really dating before I started music,” Ayra Starr said. “I didn’t really know what I was missing. So now that I waited this long to date people, I have very high standards. If it’s gonna be hard to meet it, it’s gonna be bye-bye.”
Ayra Starr also mentioned that her busy schedule leaves her with little time for herself, let alone a romantic partner.
In a separate interview with Dazed Magazine, Ayra Starr shared her desire to fall in love, stating, “I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ about what love would look like if I was.” However, she clarified that she has never been in a fully committed relationship.
