The Nigerian Senate has as part of its legislative duties voted the renaming of one of the Nigerian security outfits, the Nigerian Police Force.
The Senate reached the decision yesterday, Wednesday, July 26 after a total of 87 senators voted for the change of name.
Winning the vote against 2 senators who voted against the bill to change the name of the security outfit, the Nigerian Senate declared the name change from the Nigerian Police Force to the Nigerian Police.
The Nigerian Senate has also voted in favour of some other bills including one which alters the constitution to allow independent candidates contest elections in the country.
Recall that the Nigerian Senate yesterday also voted to smash the hopes of a former president of the country, Goodluck Jonathan to contest for a second term in office during the forthcoming 2019 presidential elections.
The Nigerian Police Force will however as from now on based on the authority of the Senate be regarded as the Nigerian Police.
