Former United States President Barack Obama has released his annual summer playlist, featuring Nigerian music stars Tems and Rema, as well as South African singer, Tyla.

Tems’ song “Love Me Jeje” and Rema’s “Yayo” were selected for Obama’s playlist, which showcases an eclectic mix of songs from various artists across different genres and continents.

This recognition highlights the growing global appreciation of Afrobeat music and its talented artists. Tems and Rema have been making waves in the music industry, and their inclusion on Obama’s playlist is a testament to their talent and hard work.

Obama shared the playlist via X on Monday, saying, “With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!”

The playlist features songs from various artists, including Nigerian-American country music star Shaboozey, whose song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is number one on Obama’s list.

This is not the first time Nigerian artists have been featured on Obama’s playlist. In previous years, artists like Burna Boy and Wizkid have also made the cut.
