Nigerian singer and record producer, Chisom Faith, known professionally as Rexxie, has been arrested in Uganda. Rexxie revealed the news on his Instagram page on Monday morning, stating he was being held by Ugandan Immigration officials.
The reason for his arrest remains unclear, though Rexxie described it as “unfair.” He called for help from his fans, urging them to use the hashtag #UgandaFreeRexxie to demand his release.
This incident comes just over two years after Nigerian singers Omah Lay and Tems were arrested in Uganda under similar circumstances. In December 2021, they were detained for performing at a concert that violated COVID-19 social distancing rules. They were eventually released after two days in jail.
