Khaid, a prominent Nigerian singer and rapper known for his hit track “Anabella,” recently shared a personal revelation regarding his religious journey. The 19-year-old artist, whose real name is Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon, disclosed that he transitioned from Islam to Christianity despite being raised in a predominantly Muslim environment.

Khaid, born to a Muslim father and a Christian mother, spoke about his upbringing during a candid conversation on the Zero Conditions podcast. He explained that while he was initially introduced to Islam through his father, he did not resonate with the teachings and found discomfort attending the mosque.

The young musician mentioned that he didn’t enjoy visiting the mosque, stating, “Right from time, I didn’t like going to the mosque actually. My dad forced me.” He further elaborated that his parents allowed him and his siblings the freedom to choose their religion. Khaid’s family, characterized by its diverse religious affiliations, granted the children the liberty to follow the faith they felt a connection with.

Expressing his personal choice, Khaid emphasized, “I was a Muslim before because my dad was a Muslim and my mum was a Christian. So, I just felt the connection to Christianity more.” He added that although some of his family members follow Islam, including his older sister and younger brother, he and five other siblings have chosen the Christian faith.
